Introducing the New Brand Identity for City SC Carlsbad

OUR CREST: The Crest design for City SC Carlsbad was created to pay homage to our rich history, to capture our progress, and to reveal our vision for the future.
THE CREST: The circular shape of the Crest was inspired by the City of Carlsbad Seal.
CENTRAL GRAPHIC: The central graphic is a modern, dynamic, youthful and progressive sun. It speaks to the energy and progress of the Southern California city that is home to our club. The color gradient represents the depth and layers of the sun. It looks like no other sun graphic in world football and speaks to the fact that our club is on the move. There are 16 rays in the sun because the number 16 denotes one who seeks wisdom in the attempt to learn enough to teach and help others.
TWO STARS: The two stars are nods to our history. They represent the two original clubs that came together to form Carlsbad United. The stars bring our crest full circle.
COLORS: In the crest you will find the colors of the two original clubs: the blue of the Carlsbad Wave, and the red of the Carlsbad Lightning

FAQs

LA Galaxy San Diego 2020 Club Re-Brand – Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of establishing our own brand?

  • Opportunity to create a brand that resonates with our membership and our local community on a more personal level
  • Allows the club the ability to exercise control over the use of our logo, name and brand on a local, regional and national level without restrictions that come with being tied to a single MLS club
  • Flexibility to expand our relationships and work with more professional and semi-professional clubs and leagues on a local, regional, national and international level. This will in turn provide a broader range of opportunities on our player pathway for both boys and girls domestically and abroad.

Will we still maintain our Academy status?
Yes. Both our boys and girls academy programs have always been separate and independent from LA Galaxy’s Academy. The re-brand will not impact our standing within the US Soccer Development Academy program, and the 2020/2021 season will see the expansion of our Boy Academy program across all DA sanctioned age groups.

Will the Carlsbad Galaxy Recreational Program be part of the rebrand?
Yes, the recreational program will also be re-branded to align with our competitive program. The structure of the recreational program and staff will continue to operate as is under the new name.

Will the rebrand impact our club structure?
Our directors of coaching, board of directions, staff and all aspects of our internal operations will remain untouched. Even as an affiliate club, we have always been 100% self sufficient and operated independently from Galaxy.

What will our new name be?
We are in the process of conducting focus groups with club leadership, adidas, key business partners and advisors before making a final decision on the new name.

When will the new name/brand be announced?
The new name will be announced next month with elements of the brand being rolled out in phases before the end of the calendar year.

When will we officially make the change over to the new name and brand?
Teams will play under the LA Galaxy SD brand for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season, which means through State/National Cup for the majority of our teams, and into July 2020 for our Academy teams. We will begin registering teams under the new name beginning with 2020/2021 season competitions.

How much longer will we wear our Galaxy uniforms?
We will wear our LAGSD uniforms through the end of the 2019/2020 season (State/National Cup).

Do I have to buy a new uniform?
Every two years players are required to buy a new uniform. Our uniform cycles line up with adidas’ product life cycles. All players would have been required to purchase a new uniform for next season, regardless of our brand, as our current kits will be discontinued next year.

Is it safe to donate my LAGSD uniform as soon as the season is done?
Please keep your LAGSD uniform until you have your new uniform in hand. Should your team participate in any tournaments/scrimmages before the new uniforms arrive, you will still need your LAGSD kit in the interim.

Will our teams still compete in the same leagues?
Yes. Our teams will still compete in all of the same leagues (Presidio League, SDDA, SCDSL, NPL, CRL, DPL, USSDA).

Why is LA Galaxy dissolving the Alliance Club program?
By dissolving the alliance club program, LA Galaxy will be able to provide more support to a broader audience in the Southern California region than they can through a co-branded alliance with a limited number of clubs.

Will our players still have a pathway to the MLS?
Yes. Our player pathway to the MLS will remain intact through LA Galaxy. Additionally, because we will no longer wear the Galaxy brand, we will be able to establish pathways via other MLS and National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) clubs as well as outside professional and semi-professional leagues.

Will we still be an adidas club?
Yes. adidas has provided strong support to our club in the early stages of the re-branding process and we are excited to continue to strengthen our partnership under the new brand.

Will my club fees be affected?
As a non-profit organization, we are always fully committed to keeping our fees competitive in the marketplace.
