If you were driving in Carlsbad on the weekend of November 8-10 and happened to pass one of the local soccer fields, you may have felt a little more magic in the air than usual. With over 200 games being played over a three-day span, our annual City SC Recreational Championship Weekend was front and center, with a sea of City SC jerseys on display throughout Carlsbad. The weekend is a great way to end the Fall Recreation season for all our U10, U12, and U14 teams. Championship Weekend is a soccer tournament that still manages to stay true to our City SC Carlsbad Recreation philosophy.

“It is my favorite event of the recreation season,” said City SC Carlsbad Director of Recreation, Gregg Cacioppo. “We can truly see the development of all the players in our league, it really shows how great our recreational curriculum and coaches have been. The kids were really buzzing around the field and there were some absolutely fantastic match ups!”

City SC Carlsbad Assistant Director of Recreation, Adam Martin, followed, “I loved seeing the sportsmanship out on the pitch between the players and on the sidelines between the parents. The end of game tunnels seemed endless and the smiles from all the kids were ear to ear,”

City SC President, Jim Barnhill, concluded, “What an amazing weekend! From Friday afternoon to Sunday night, game after game was competitive, hard fought and fun to watch. Thanks goes out to all the participants, coaches, referees, division coordinators, field marshals, spectators and team parents that made the tournament run so smoothly. A special thank you to Gregg Cacioppo and Adam Martin who created a fun and competitive tournament for all. We hope last weekend was the culmination of a rewarding Fall season for your family.”
