Poinsettia Community Park was the place to be on Sunday, October 10 as City SC recreational and competitive players, parents and coaches gathered to celebrate the season at our 2021 Club Day.

Traditionally held on opening weekend of the fall season, “Opening Day” has been a long time favorite club tradition among City SC families, but the atmosphere at this year’s event was arguably the most vibrant ever as it marked the first time in over a year that we’ve been able to bring all of our members together to enjoy some time off the field.

As usual, the recreational teams set the tone, contributing 145 incredible raffle baskets and the park was buzzing all day thanks to awesome live music by Chris James!  Local vendors El Puerto Mexican and Seafood, La Banana Fruits, Cal-Italia Wood Fired Pizza, SeaCo Catch, Kona Ice and Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream were on site to nourish the crowd, while Milton’s Craft Bakers, SD Loyal, Jersey Mike’s, City SC Open Golf Tourney and North Compass Realty provided fun giveaways, activities, and product samples for all to enjoy, and Be the Change Carlsbad collected over 100 pairs of cleats to donate to players in need!

Special thanks to the competitive teams who helped run game booths for the day, to the recreational teams for all of the hard work and creativity that went into your raffle baskets, and to all of the players, parents, board members and staff who volunteered with various aspects of the event to help make it a successful day!  And last but certainly not least, huge thanks to the City of Carlsbad Parks and Rec and Special Event staff who continue to support this great tradition each year!
