The Carlsbad Elite U16 girls earned their second consecutive 3rd place medal in the US Youth National Championships. In what was arguably the most exciting game of the tournament, Carlsbad lost their bid at a Championship Final by losing 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout to eventual National Champions Beach FC Academy. The effort and enthusiasm to win was undeniable and the teams’ performance, especially in the semi-final, was inspiring. Although bitterly disappointed to come up short once again, the girls’ resolve will be tested this season as they begin working to qualify for their 3rd straight National Championship berth.
