Under-18 Girls: Carlsbad Elite (CA-S) 1–0 DMCV Sharks Elite (CA-S)
GU18 Elite Storm FieldUnder-18 Girls Carlsbad Elite (CA-S) denied in-state rival DMCV Sharks Elite (CA-S) an opportunity to become just the fifth team to win three-straight National Championships with a 1-0 victory in the finals. DMCV defeated Carlsbad Elite on the finals day of group play 1-0, but Carlsbad claimed a 1-0 victory over the Sharks when it mattered the most as Sydney Yates scored the match’s only goal in the 52nd minute when she headed in a cross past 2013 National Championship Golden Glove winner Melissa Lowder. Carlsbad’s defense would hold strong to win the club’s first National Championship 1-0.

“There is a level of commitment and luck that has to go your way to win this tournament,” Carlsbad head coach Adam Skumawitz said. “DMCV is an unbelievable team that we have played so many times. The girls just wanted it that much more this year.”

Day 3 of the National League Championships and today saw our U15 Elite girls exit the tournament after a 1-1 tie v Albion wasn’t enough to take them through to the semis.

Our U17 Elite girls convincingly won 4-0 to win their group. They play Tampa Bay United (FL) on Saturday morning in the semis.

Our U18 girls lost 1-0 to DMCV Sharks but still finished 2nd in the group and will play La Roca (UT) in the semis on Saturday morning.

NATIONALS UPDATE – DAY 5 – Tulsa, Oklahoma
Day 4, Friday, was a day off for our remaining teams, the GU17 and GU18 Elite teams.

Today, day 5, of the National League Championships and our U17 Elite girls played Tampa Bay United (FL) in the semis. Unfortunately it wasn’t their day and they exited the Championships loosing 2-0. They were awarded the Bronze Medal for the third year in a row, which is no mean feat! Well done ladies!

Our U18 girls trounced their semi final opponents, La Roca (UT) 6-0. This lines them up for another final versus the very accomplished DMCV Sharks team and it should be a fantastic spectacle.
