City SC is excited to announce a special project in the works for 2025 that will take our mission to ignite a passion, bring joy and fun, and leave a lasting legacy International!
City SC Harare, a no-cost soccer program for local youth players in Harare, Harare is set to hold their first talent ID sessions in December, with the goal of forming two teams for their first season (Boys U13 and U15). The program will launch in April and teams will play a full league schedule against other local clubs as well as local tournaments.
Led by City SC Carlsbad Coach Taps Manhungo, City SC Harare is being founded using the same principles and methodology that we use here in Carlsbad to provide opportunities and resources for players in Harare to pursue their passion for the game. Beyond the work being done on the pitch, the program will empower young athletes by providing resources and a pathway to success and will help tackle social issues in the community.
Over time, Coach Taps and the team in Zimbabwe hope to sustain and grow the program to include girls teams and more age groups where there is a demand.
City SC Harare will be the beneficiary of this season’s annual Giving Back Friendlies, scheduled for January 4, 2025. Donations will go directly to help cover the cost of equipment, fields, insurance, coaches, video equipment, and player transportation which is a common barrier that prevents players from participating in organized sports. Schedules, volunteer opportunities and donation info for the Friendlies will be released in the coming weeks.
