City SC Carlsbad members turned out in droves again this summer to support San Diego Wave FC at their rivalry match against Angel City SC on Saturday, June 17, 2023.
After being crowned champions at the inaugural “Battle of the Clubs” game in 2022, at which City SC helped Wave FC set a National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) attendance record, we came back strong again this year to win back-to-back “Battle of the Clubs” titles!
City SC President Jim Barnhill, along with coaches John Baker, Ilse Holtkamp and G2011 player Ella Garcia accepted the trophy from Wave FC President Jill Ellis before the game, and 14 City SC players had the opportunity to participate in the pre-game walk out with the players.
