City SC is proud to partner with the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation on Keep Their Heart in the Game: a pilot program to protect young hearts from sudden cardiac arrest.
For the Carlsbad Cup and Carlsbad Coastal Classic, a cardiac emergency response plan has been created for each athletic venue and an automated external defibrillator (AED) will be on each field during the matches.
We ask that all tournament staff, volunteers, referees, and participants familiarize themselves with the cardiac emergency response plan to be sure each of us is ready to respond to a cardiac emergency by calling 911, starting hands-only CPR and using the AED.
AED LOCATIONS:
- AVIVE AEDs will be at the FIELD MARSHAL TENTS at most venues thanks to the generosity of the Eric Paredes Save a Life Foundation!
- PUBLIC ACCESS TO AEDS:
- Alga Norte Park: Restroom/concession stand wall near upper soccer field
- Poinsettia Park: Restroom wall above turf soccer field (next to playground)
- Stagecoach Park: Restroom wall between turf soccer fields
In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest during the tournament, the AEDs can be deployed by anyone to assure immediate emergency intervention for the victim.

- The plan details the basic “Call, Push, Shock” protocol for responding to a cardiac arrest.
- Site specific plans for each venue will be kept in the field marshal binder at each venue and include the field address, closest intersection and access point information to help direct EMS in an emergency.
