Keep Their Heart in the Game: City SC Summer Tournaments Cardiac Emergency Response Plan

City SC is proud to partner with the Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation on Keep Their Heart in the Game: a pilot program to protect young hearts from sudden cardiac arrest.

For the Carlsbad Cup and Carlsbad Coastal Classic, a cardiac emergency response plan has been created for each athletic venue and an automated external defibrillator (AED) will be on each field during the matches.

We ask that all tournament staff, volunteers, referees, and participants familiarize themselves with the cardiac emergency response plan to be sure each of us is ready to respond to a cardiac emergency by calling 911, starting hands-only CPR and using the AED.

Please watch the below 10 minute video below for a complete overview of the cardiac emergency response plan:

Click on the links below to view the plan for your each field site:

A copy of the plan will be in the Field Marshal Handbook at each venue and displayed on a sandwich board at the field marshal tent. Plans will be distributed via email to referees, tournament staff and volunteers and participating teams.

Keep Their Heart In the Game has also loaned us an Avive Connect AEDยฎ for 10 field sites.ย  Avive AEDs will be located at the Field Marshal Tent, unless otherwise noted on the plan for that site. If more than 10 venues are in use on any given weekend, the location of publicly available AEDs will be specified in the site plan.

In the event of a sudden cardiac arrest during the tournament, this AED can be deployed by anyone to assure immediate emergency intervention for the victim.

We also recommend watching this short, one minute video to see just how easy it is to use the Avive AED in an emergency:

Thank you for being an integral part of our efforts to promote the health and safety of our players and best of luck to all teams competing in the Carlsbad Cup and Carlsbad Coastal Classic!
