I would like to be a coach, assistant coach, or team parent. What should I do?
Firstly, THANK YOU! The success of our program depends on the spirit and energy of our volunteers. Every year we need coaches, assistants and team parents. The league relies on parent volunteers to fill these positions. If you would like to volunteer as a coach or assistant coach please go to the website under volunteers tab and click the link. Alternatively, when you register your child for the fall season you will receive a confirmation email with links to volunteer as well. No experience is necessary, we will train you! What is required to be a coach?info@citysccarlsbad.com
First, we ask that you attend the coaches meeting in July. All requirements for coaching are set by our parent organization, US Soccer. All Head and Assistant Coaches must go through US Soccer Risk Management (fingerprinting). If you have already been fingerprinted through our club you do not need to do it again. Coaches will also be required to attend 3 preseason meetings run by the club. For detailed information on the process, please contact the Director of Recreation, Gregg Cacioppo at:What is required to be a team parent?
The team parent is the liaison between the Coach and other parents. The team parent usually puts the team roster together, assigns the snack schedule, handles Opening Day/Picture Day information and/or plans the “End of the Season Party”. In addition, the coach may make other requests, such as asking the team parent to make a few phone calls reminding parents and players of practice times, game changes, etc. We ask that all team parents attend the team parent meeting that is held in mid-August. A link for this position was also in the registration confirmation email.I would like to sponsor my child’s team. Who do I contact?info@ourcitysc.com. A link was also sent in your registration confirmation email.
The registration fees do not completely cover the costs of running the recreational soccer league. The league needs team sponsors to help cover the additional costs to run the recreational league. Team sponsorships are $375.00. Please let your coach know that you are interested in sponsoring the team and he/she will provide you with the appropriate forms. Alternatively, you can email the City SC office at:How will I be placed on a team?
Considerable effort is made to balance the teams and provide competition that is enjoyable to both players and parents alike. Players are placed on teams using the following criteria: • Balance between olders and youngers on each team • Buddy Requests (must be reciprocated) • By school and/or location How many practices will there be? Each team will typically practice once per week. We have approximately 200 coaches who volunteer each year. Depending on their work or personal schedules, coaches usually pick the best day, time and location that will fit into their schedule. Typically practices last 1 hour. Can I be on a team with all my friends?
We will do our best to honor at least one of your requests. However, we cannot guarantee placement with all of your friends. Our most important goal in making placements is balancing the teams to provide competition that is enjoyable for everyone involved. This is why we can only allow one buddy request and that request must be reciprocated. Why can’t I choose who I want to be on a team with?
Unfortunately, when players and/or parents start choosing teams, the teams can become unbalanced. Volunteer division coordinators spend a tremendous amount of time putting teams together to ensure a positive, successful experience for all players. How can I help?info@citysccarlsbad.com
There are many ways for parents to help. The City SC recreational program is run by a large group of volunteers. We invite you to join us for a memorable experience, assuring a great season for our kids. Some volunteer positions start and finish before the season starts, some may last the season, and some positions involve simply one event. If you are interested in volunteering please contact the Director of Recreation, Gregg Cacioppo at:What are my responsibilities as a parent?
