LAGSD Director of Soccer Operations, Michael Duggan, and Director of Girls, Carl Higham, are proud to introduce Greg LaPorte as a part of our staff and family at LA Galaxy San Diego. LaPorte will be a key figure in the new U.S. Soccer Girls’ Development Academy Program as well as the Women’s Premier Soccer League team.

“I am so happy to introduce Greg to our Academy coaching staff,” said Duggan. “Greg is a top level A license coach with a wealth of experience at both the collegiate and ECNL levels. His leadership qualities and ability to develop talent fall directly in line with our mission as a club. He is going to be an invaluable member to our girls program.”

LaPorte is a San Diego native and Poway High graduate that has a wealth of collegiate and professional playing and coaching experience. He was the Associate Head Coach for the University of San Diego Women’s Soccer Program, before USD he served as the goalkeeper coach at UC San Diego for both the men and women’s soccer teams. At the youth level LaPorte was the Assistant Director of Coaching for San Diego Surf.

In his college career, he was the starting goalkeeper as a freshman for the Division I Vanderbilt Commodores. Following his freshman season, LaPorte left to pursue a professional career in Europe and South America. He began his professional career in England training with Manchester City and playing for teams in Sao Paulo, Brasil, Germany and Italy.

LaPorte commented, “I am extremely honored and proud to be apart of the LA Galaxy San Diego. I am eager to continue to cultivate the infectious soccer culture here with the addition of the WPSL. It is an exciting time for the community of Carlsbad, and the opportunities it creates for local girl soccer players. A special thanks to Michael Duggan, Carl Higham and Steve Cowell for bringing me onboard.”
