12 year old LA Galaxy San Diego player Lila Conroy decided that she wanted to do something different when giving back to the community this year. After brainstorming with her parents & LAGSD she decided to help out with the annual trip to Mexico, ‘The Copa Corazon’ (the event is a fun filled day of soccer for under privileged children from Tijuana). So Lila set herself a target of collecting 200 balls, enough for every participant, but after just one month Lila had already surpassed her goal and managed to collect a whopping 270 balls.

When asked why she decided to help out this year, Lila commented,  “It’s important to give back to society both locally and further afield. Soccer means a lot to me and I feel that giving back to the sport I love is part of being an athlete.”

Lila’s final message to others thinking about giving back to the community is, “Do it, you’d be surprised how supportive your friends, family and community can be. Anybody can step up and help those in need.”

We’d like to thank Lila for all her hard work and we look forward to delivering the balls down to Tijuana this Memorial day weekend.
