Former club player of over 10 years, Mateja Milasinovic has just signed a 5 year professional contract with Hungarian side Újpest FC. Formed in 1885, Újpest reached the first division of the Hungarian League, known as the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, in 1905 and have been relegated only once since then. The club has been a member of the top flight of Hungarian soccer for 102 consecutive years and have been Hungarian champions twenty times. Currently sitting in fifth in the league, Mateja will hope to establish himself as regular in the not too distant future.

“I am very happy to sign Professionally,” said Mateja. “It has been my dream of mine ever since I could remember. I am grateful to be given such an amazing opportunity and now hope to prove myself here at my new club. I have sacrificed a lot over the past year, not seeing my family or friends, but am happy that it is finally starting to pay off. I hope to make everyone back in Carlsbad proud.”

LAGSD Director of Boys, Glenn Malone, commented, “From an early age Mateja has lived and breathed soccer, so to see him be awarded this opportunity through his hard work and dedication is something special. Everybody here at LA Galaxy San Diego is extremely proud of what he has achieved and we all wish him the very best of luck in the next chapter of his life and soccer journey!”
