LA Galaxy San Diego’s Director of Soccer Operations and Girl’s Academy Director, Michael Duggan, was recently chosen to be part of a select group of 18 Academy Directors from across the US to participate in a one year long U.S. Soccer Girl’s Academy Directors Course.
The course programming, which began in June 2018 and will finish in June 2019, is part of U.S. Soccer’s overall effort to develop world class players, coaches and referees.
Michael has just returned from the latest stint of the course, which was a 10 day trip to England that included case studying Manchester City’s, Birmingham City’s and the English FA’s Women and Academy programs. Via the course, the traveling group focused on the philosophies, culture, structure and long term goals of the women’s game from grass roots right through to the National level.
“I feel very proud to have been chosen to be a part of this fantastic course,” commented Michael. “To be in the company of some of the most highly regarded directors from the top clubs across the US is a big honor and hopefully I can gain some valuable experience that I can share with my fellow LA Galaxy San Diego Directors and Coaches.”
