The Carlsbad Elite GU15, GU17, & GU18 teams went to North Carolina in November to participate in the prestigious National League. With 12 games played in total over a four day schedule between the three representing CUFC teams, none of the three teams lost a single game which is remarkable!
The club is now sitting in a great place going into the final week of National League which will take place during March in Las Vegas, NV. The U15 girls are in second place, with the U17 girls tied for top spot, while the U18 girls are top of their group.

GU18 Elite Team – 11/22/14
After 3 days of playing, the Carlsbad GU18 Elite Team stand on top of the red bracket with 2 solid wins and a hard fought battle ending with a 1-1 tie against last years National Championship finalists VSA Heat.
The girls beat Jaguars 2-0 in the opening day of play with Miriam Bloom and Christina Nixon scoring the 2 goals and Nadia Balin recording her first clean sheet. The team played well and there were about 20 college coaches on the sidelines, many who have been following this team over the last two seasons.
The second day of play saw weather conditions almost as bad as Lancaster and the result was a 1-0 deficit after the first half. But in the “fight to the end” style of this team, Chelsea Churchill pounded a beautiful ball right under the cross bar with about 10 minutes left and the girls, battered and bruised, were happy with the final result. On the sidelines where coaches from Middle Tennessee, Austin Peay, Belmont, Radford, University of Tennessee, George Mason and Washington College.
Today the girls faced a rematch with KC Metro Dynamos and showed them that Carlsbad came to finish as champions of their bracket again this year. Although Carlsbad had most of the possession they were unable to convert their many corner kicks and the first half ended in a 0-0 tie. The girls came out fighting in the second half and Chelsea Churchill received a perfect through ball from Sydney Yates and she pounded home what turned out to be the winning goal. Today on the sidelines was USA Soccer, Brown, Colombia College and Eastern Kentucky University.
The GU18 kicks off tomorrow at 9:20 for their 4th and final game in North Carolina.
Good luck ladies, awesome thus far!

GU15 Elite Team – 11/20/14
Carlsbad United FC GU15 Elite defeated Nationally ranked #2 FC Virginia in the first day of play for the National League in North Carolina. Central Midfielder Tina Oddone #21 scored the only goal of the game 30 seconds into the second half on a nice shot from ~22 yards out beating the keeper by placing the shot in the corner of the net. Tina had the only goal of the match due to a stellar save earlier by Ashley Seymour on a Penalty Kick. Ashley made the save by anticipating the shot location and getting a great jump on a very well placed shot to the left corner.
College Coaches from University of Maryland, University of South Carolina, University of North Carolina, Duke University, University of Southern California, Navy Academy, University of Cincinnati, West Virginia University were among a few that watched the game with great interest.
Tomorrow the squad faces off against the Illinois State Champions “Team Chicago Academy” then off to UNC to tour the campus and watch the second round of the NCAA Division I Women’s soccer tournament as the UNC Tarheels host the Colorado Buffaloes.
