CHULA VISTA, CA — June 23, 2021 – Chula Vista United has announced that beginning with the 2021/22 season the club will be rebranding as City SC South Bay. City SC South Bay will be the third affiliate club to join the growing City SC brand.
“Our new partnership with City Soccer Club and the relationship with MLS Club Real Salt Lake brings about exciting times for us in Chula Vista and surrounding areas,” said City SC South Bay Director, Danny Villalva. “We now can offer a real pathway to professional soccer without our local talent having to venture south into Mexico. We are looking forward to working with City SC and RSL in sharing resources, curriculum and technical knowledge through player ID camps and coaching clinics. If a player comes into the City SC South Bay family with the fundamental ABC’s: the right Attitude, the willingness to become Better and Commitment level it takes, then we have the right pathway for them. We’d like our success to be determined by the level each player we coach reaches, not by the number of wins and losses.”
City SC Director of Boys, Glenn Malone, added, “The partnership between City SC and City SC South Bay is one of support and opportunity, that hopefully initiates the growth of City SC South Bay throughout the Chula Vista area and beyond. We will be offering a vital pathway that players need down in the Southern San Diego region. We will be offering opportunities to City SC South Bay coaches in terms of sharing our coaching education ideas and inviting them to our coaching education sessions. We will also offer guidance to City SC South Bay with regards to standards, and will assist them with anything related to the everyday running of a club. All these measures will no doubt help City SC South Bay grow as a club.”
