As a very talented player, who played his way through the youth ranks with City SC, it was no surprise that Ethan Ibarra went on to continue playing soccer in College (with University of Saint Katherine).

Ethan was indeed achieving his dream, until his dream was cruelly snatched away from him in January 2022 after a car veered off the road and collided with him while he was out running.

The car accident left Ethan in the hospital with a fractured skull and fighting for his life.

Fortunately, Ethan eventually managed to stabilize and pull through but his road to recovery was long and difficult, involving surgery and months of rehabilitation.

Ethan never gave up hope and fought his way back to health but now, with his college playing days behind him (he still trains with the team), Ethan has found a new calling in coaching and has returned to the club where he once played.

Despite the mass of challenges he has faced, Ethan remains grateful for the opportunity to continue his love of the game and help others achieve their own goals on the field.

“As a club we are absolutely thrilled to have Ethan back with us,” said Glenn Malone, City SC Director of Boys. “Ethan has an infectious personality and we can’t wait to see him share his love for the game with his players. His journey has been incredible and his work ethic and dedication to his recovery is an inspiration to everyone who goes through tough times.”

Ethan, you are an inspiration to all!
