144 lives touched in one weekend!

Service to the community is one of our most important values at LAGSD and as a club we are proud to have rallied together over the years to raise significant funds for community causes.   This summer, we took on a new giving back challenge, partnering with the San Diego Blood Bank to host our first ever blood drive.

The Coastal Classic Blood Drive was held August 18 and 19 at Poinsettia Park in conjunction with the Coastal Classic Girls tournament.

Over the course of the weekend, 47 people donated blood, the majority being LAGSD members, and 25 of those being first time blood donors. Since our drive August 18 & 19, these donations have already touched the lives of 144 people!

Knowing that just 47 people were able to make a positive impact on the lives of 144, it’s exciting to think about just many lives our club has the potential to touch with 4,000 members! We are excited to keep the blood drive tradition going, and being the competitive people that we are, can’t wait to beat our numbers next year!

Special thanks to Shawn Entrikin for helping start this great new club tradition, to the wonderful people at the San Diego Blood Bank for making the drive so easy to host, to Lynn and Maia Villaflor for volunteering their time, to Travis the Warrior for sharing his story and inspiring others to donate, and to all 47 people who took the time to participate in the drive!
