Major League Soccer today announced that 65 former U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs will join the League’s existing club academies to create a partnership that will transform youth player development in the United States and Canada.

City SC’s Boys Academy program, along with 64 other youth clubs will join the MLS academies as Founding Members of MLS’ elite player development platform. The new platform, which will include more than 8,000 players throughout the U.S. and Canada, will consist of elite year-round competition, as well as player identification initiatives, coaching education opportunities, and additional programming to create the premier player development environment.

“We are delighted to be announced as one of founder members of the new Major League Soccer Elite Player Development Platform,” said City SC Boys Academy Director Paul Ritchie. “This new opportunity will allow players to follow their own individual pathway, either to college or into the professional game.”

City SC Boys Director, Glenn Malone, commented, “To be part of this new landscape for youth soccer in the US is extremely exciting. To be aligned with the MLS and be one of the founding members of a true college platform is something we feel that is so important for the boys in our program.”
