Saturday, May 26, 2018, saw the 2nd annual Copa Corazón take place in Tijuana. The day long soccer event is run by our very own LA Galaxy San Diego coaches and hosted 200 children who came from seven different Tijuana based communities. The fun tournament split the mass of children into 14 different groups based on ages and communities. The groups then participated in small sided games, soccer tennis matches and skills clinics throughout the day. The coaches were assigned to a group and spent the whole day with that group, playing, chatting and having fun.

As well as giving a special thanks to our coaches and helpers, the event itself is ran purely on donations so we’d also like to thank the LA Galaxy Foundation, IYSA, Challenger Sports, adidas, SD Trophy and Fusion Risk Management; who collectively donated lunches, medals, soccer balls and jerseys.

LAGSD’s lead organizer, Rich Cooper, commented, “All in all, it’s a great event that allows us to share our passion with those that are less fortunate than ourselves, we hope to continue this event for many years to come.”

Big well done to all involved!
