Carlsbad United FC gives back to fire victims!

The CUFC ‘Play it Forward’ event raises much needed funds for local families affected by the recent fires

On Saturday, May 31st, Carlsbad United F.C. held a series of in house scrimmages as part of the clubs ‘Play it Forward’ fundraiser, an event with the purpose of raising money for those within the Carlsbad community who lost their homes during the recent fires.

With nearly fifty teams aged between U8-U13 participating across two local parks, Poinsettia Community Park and Aviara Community Park, the event was a great success and raised a grand total of $5731.83.

The money raised was handed over to the Carlsbad Fire Department who will be forwarding $2000 to the ‘San Diego Burn Institute’ and passing the remaining $3731.83 to ‘Carlsbad Ready’, a fund set up for the Carlsbad fires victims that relays 100% of the donations straight to the affected families.

Carlsbad United F.C. board member Ryan Gold commented, “The support shown by the Carlsbad fire, the police department, and our local politicians has been absolutely incredible. These heroes have taken the time to get to know the families that lost their homes and selflessly worked to rally the community to help provide support.”

Carlsbad United F.C. Director of Operations, Michael Duggan, also pitched in, “We realize that our job as Carlsbad United is not just to teach soccer but to also be an active part of our community and help when needed. We know that with our vast numbers we can really make a difference when we come together and this was one of these occasions when we really felt we needed to.”

Thanks for coming together for the community!
